What is Manual Osteopathy?
Manual osteopathy is a practice that helps the body regain its original healthy function using a non-invasive method. Our body has the ability to heal and control itself, but due to incorrect posture, trauma, childbirth, aging, and stress, its healing ability is limited, resulting in disease and pain. A manual osteopathy practitioner comprehensively diagnoses where restricted areas are in the patient's musculoskeletal system and soft tissues through osteopathic palpation and mobility tests. Then, by using techniques such as joint mobilization, muscle energy technique, and visceral manipulation, the body's stress and tension are lowered to facilitate the good flow of blood, lymph and nerves. This creates a turning point where the body's self-healing ability can be revived.
What it is good for:
• Chronic pain (headache, neck, shoulders, lower back, hips, knees, wrists, ankles, etc.)
• Nerve entrapment problems (Sciatica, Tingling hands and feet, etc.)
• Digestive system problems (indigestion, bloating after eating, etc.)
• Gynecological problems (problems with the pelvis and surrounding organs etc.)
• Chronic tension, chronic fatigue, chronic stress, etc.
A gentle, subtle approach that works primarily with the nervous system and subtle rhythms of the body to release deep patterns of tension and long-term stress. Using very light touch, this gentle yet powerful therapy supports the body’s natural ability to heal and self-regulate.
Many clients describe feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded after sessions.
This option may be ideal if you are seeking support for:
• Anxiety or nervous system overwhelm
• Headaches or migraines
• Concussion recovery
• TMJ and jaw tension
• Fatigue or burnout
• High sensitivity to stress
Best suited for those wanting a deeper, restorative treatment that prioritizes nervous system balance and stabilization.
I am truly grateful to Dr. Andrea Dorman and her staff at Bodywise Health & Rehab. I have had an on-going pain in my left shoulder that I suffered from a serious car accident two years ago. I had seen a number of physiotherapists over the years but she was the only one who was able to fix my issue permanently with her Active Release Technique.
